Several stores in Europe have jumped the gun and started selling the Xiaomi Watch 2, a cheaper version of the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro, even though Xiaomi is yet to announce the watch officially.
A couple of stores in Belgium are charging €200 for it, one in Slovakia has it priced at €250. We guess the former is the intended price as the Pro model can easily be found for €230 these days (it launched at €270 for the Bluetooth model and €330 for the LTE one).
The Xiaomi Watch 2 has the same 1.43” 466 x 466px AMOLED display, however, the 46mm case is made out of aluminum instead of stainless steel like the Pro. The watch is available in black and silver with a matching TPU strap.
It has a heart rate and SpO2 monitor, built-in GPS and a 5 ATM water resistance rating. It’s powered by the same Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset running Wear OS. Xiaomi claims 65 hour battery life for both watches, so we assume that the battery capacity is the same at 495mAh (in our tests we got two full days out of the Pro with Always-On Display enabled and had battery to spare in the evening).
In terms of connectivity, the Xiaomi Watch 2 has Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi and NFC. Crucially, there is no LTE option. This and the case material seem to be the key differentiators between the vanilla and Pro watches.
We will keep an eye out for an official press release from Xiaomi for a confirmation on the price and other details (e.g. will it be available outside of Europe?).
