FBI – Manifest – Review : It’s All In The Cane

This was such a gripping episode right from the jump. My jaw literally dropped the moment that they said the family under attack was one of the Senators. I had assumed that they were just a rich family based on the security guards and safe room. I was completely convinced that the entire family was going to be murdered when the killer dragged the father’s body to the fingerprint scanner. On a side note I loved to see Sarah Clarke (aka Nina Myers from 24) back on my screen in a procedural, I wish we could have seen more of her character because she was so good in the role of the Senator.
As much as I loved this episode, I do wish that there wasn’t so much predictability about it. There were a fair few moments that I saw coming from a mile away; like the Senator being killed and OA surviving after being infected, although I didn’t audibly say during the break “they wouldn’t kill OA, would they?” (as you can tell I don’t trust these shows anymore, too many characters have been killed off this year) . Once we found out about ‘Oslo’ and that he was getting a deal, it was a pretty safe bet that he would escape, however I can forgive all of this as we get another multi-episode criminal. We haven’t really seen anyone like that in the show since Antonio Vargas and I have been waiting for us to get another one. My favourite episodes of the show are where we get to go back to an open case and have a continuation of something that affects all of 26 Fed.
I am seriously liking the new partnership between Scola and Eva. The wealth of knowledge that she has that she can just spew in seconds is amazing. I know Scola has had more new partners than you can shake a stick at within the last two seasons, but I am really hoping this one sticks. The two characters bounce off each other so well, they are essentially complete opposites but as they say, opposites attract.
The last scene of this episode was perfect. I love Maggie and OA as partners, and I love that no matter what they will be there for each other through thick and thin. Maggie bringing OA ice cream, and them watching the senate pass the veterans care bill in honour of Senator Charlotte Hirsch showed how good they are for each other. Maggie’s silent support of OA, knowing that he has struggled since the being in the army truly spoke a thousand words throughout the entire episode.
I can’t wait to see what the continuation of this case brings to 26 Fed, it’s already hurt three of their own, what more can happen!
