As the city’s elite search for an alternative to Zohran Mamdani for mayor, the real-estate industry at least is turning toward Eric Adams.
Since June 10, the mayor’s embattled reelection campaign has raised a little over $1.5 million, according to a new report from the city’s Campaign Finance Board. A significant portion of those contributions come from members of the city’s most prominent real-estate firms. More than 60 employees from SL Green Realty, which bills itself as the city’s largest commercial landlord, donated a total of $67,301 to the campaign. CEO Marc Holliday hosted a fundraiser for Adams last week that reportedly raised $1 million for his reelection. Twenty employees of Cushman & Wakeman contributed $21,670, while 33 employees of CBRE Group donated a total of $36,250. Renaissance Properties president Kenneth Fishel and his wife, Maria, who recently hosted a Hamptons fundraiser for Adams, both donated $2,100.
During the primary, Andrew Cuomo had his fair share of wealthy donors, with his campaign’s main super-PAC receiving financial backing from former mayor Michael Bloomberg, DoorDash, and hedge-fund billionaire Bill Ackman, who has since turned his support to Adams.
