In case you needed further proof that few people expected Zohran Mamdani to decisively beat Andrew Cuomo in the New York Democratic mayoral primary, here it is: Donald Trump was caught without a good insult.
To be fair, the president has been busy smearing reporters and creepily being called “Daddy” at the NATO summit. But when he finally turned his attention to Mamdani more than 12 hours after his upset win, this was all he had:
Trump’s insults aren’t always on point (see “Kamabla“). But it’s rare that you come way from a Truth Social tirade wondering if the president even knows who exactly he’s talking about. Let’s take a closer look:
It’s finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line … We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous.
Democrats have both “crossed the line” and are “getting a little ridiculous”? Golly, that sounds concerning!
Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor.
It seems Trump is aware that Mamdani is pretty far left, but does he know that he’s literally a democratic socialist? It’s unclear. “100% Communist Lunatic” doesn’t pack much of a punch, as Trump regularly called Kamala Harris a “bumbling communist lunatic,” or some other variation of pinko communist. Either Trump is not really sure where Mamdani stands, or he shot himself in the foot by using up all the good leftie insults on run-of-the-mill Democratic centrists.
He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart …
Mamdani has been widely described as handsome, and at the very least he’s more of a looker than Cuomo — and Trump never remarked on his old foe’s looks. Mamdani’s voice is also … totally normal? Trump, like many other New York politicians, really shouldn’t be throwing stones.
… he’s got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him.
So that was it! Trump ran out of Mamdani insults after less than four full sentences, then pivoted to jabs at AOC and Schumer. He even used his two dumb nicknames for the Democratic leader to pad out his too-thin post. Trump really went with “Great Palestinian Senator” Chuck Schumer when “Mamdani is an Israel-hating, raging antisemite” is sitting right there?!
Yes, this is a big moment in the History of our Country!
Okay, sure. But that description could be applied to everything from the moon landing to the attack on Pearl Harbor to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.
Overall, this Truth Social post is giving “kid who did not read the book,” or perhaps “Dan Scavino post masquerading as a genuine Trump tirade.” Mr. President, please go read some CliffsNotes on Mamdani and come back to me tomorrow with a truly offensive, incoherently capitalized rant about the mayoral nominee. I know you can do it if you just apply yourself!
