Love chocolate covered bananas? 🍌🍫

Today I am sharing how to use sliced bananas, melted chocolate chips, and peanut butter in two ways! You can either make these as delicious individual chocolate-dipped banana bites, or use a sheet pan and create cracked frozen banana bark!

Both ideas are super easy to make, only require 3 ingredients, and can be kept in the freezer until you get a craving for a bite of something sweet and chocolatey. We originally shared the banana bites idea 6 years ago, and I am excited to highlight it again as the banana bark is super popular on TikTok and Instagram currently!

What a yummy treat to make with the kids!

I love how versatile this recipe is. You could even dip these bananas in colorful sprinkles for a festive touch (think birthdays or another fun occasion), or you could dip them in rolled or slivered nuts for a different approach. Even coconut would be so delicious. They are a little messy to compile, and won’t turn out perfect, but they taste great!

Frozen Chocolate-Dipped Peanut Butter Banana Bites

yield: 4 SERVINGS

prep time: 15 MINUTES

cook time: 30 MINUTES

total time: 45 MINUTES

These easy to make banana bites hit the spot when you’re craving a chocolatey snack or dessert!

1

To make frozen banana bites:
Peel and slice the bananas about 1/4 inch thick. Next, spread a small amount of peanut butter between two slices of bananas and continue doing this on all of them, making little banana sandwiches.

2

Place all of them on a baking sheet that has been covered in parchment paper. Freeze for about an hour. This makes it easier to dip in chocolate.

3

Melt chocolate chips in the microwave, in 15-second increments, taking the bowl of chocolate out to stir each time until melted. Add a tiny splash of coconut oil if chocolate clumps to smooth it out.

4

Dip one side of each banana bite in chocolate and place back on the parchment paper.

5

Place the baking sheet in the freezer until banana bites are completely frozen, about 30 minutes, and then enjoy! Store any leftovers in a covered container in the freezer. This made about 28 banana bites for me.

6

To make frozen banana bark:

Cover a small sheet pan with parchment paper. Peel and slice bananas. Place the slices on a sheet pan in a rectangle shape. Make sure the slices are close together and touching.

7

Melt the peanut butter in the microwave for about 15-30 seconds. Pour and spread it over the bananas.

8

Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for 15 seconds at a time in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth. Pour and spread the chocolate over the peanut butter. Place the sheet pan in the freezer for a few hours or best overnight until frozen.

9

Once frozen, break apart the bark into pieces.

Tips for making peanut butter banana bites or banana bark:

    • While I used regular Skippy peanut butter, you can use any nut variety or brand you like. Try switching things with almond butter, cashew butter, or swap out creamy blends for crunchy!
    • If you are finding that it is hard to spread the peanut butter, melt the peanut butter in the microwave for about 15-30 seconds and it will be easy to spread or pour over the bananas for the bark.
    • One reader stuck a pretzel in the middle of the bites for an added salty crunch—yum!
    • Consider adding chopped nuts to the melted chocolate at the end or salt.

These are similar to store-bought Reese’s banana slices!

If you have seen or bought this popular snack, the DIY version is easy and cheap to make. I think of them as similar to having a small bowl of ice cream, but it’s grab-and-go, portion-controlled, and so much better! Plus, since I can change up the peanut butter for Nutella or even a different nut butter, I can experiment with different flavors.

Next time I’m going to make a few batches to keep in the freezer because these went FAST! My family really enjoyed these chocolate-dipped peanut butter banana bites. I really think your crew will love these, too!

The frozen banana bark is so delicious too!

I will admit this form is easier to compile in my opinion. It takes less time and is too much fun to break apart. My kids also loved this so much. It’s personal preference but try this way as well!
